The occupation of urban hotels in the country reached the mark of 59.2% from January to October 2022, equaling the level registered in the same months of 2019, that is, the period before the beginning of the Covid pandemic.
This is an important milestone for the hotel sector, one of those that suffered the effects of the health crisis for the longest time.
With the return of guests, hotels took the opportunity to increase rates and recover at least part of the revenue lost during the period in which the rooms were empty.
At the same time, there was a need to pass on generalized cost increases to the final price. As a result, the average fee was R$274, an increase of 18.1% compared to the period prior to the pandemic.
Data are from the Brazilian Hotel Operators Forum (FOHB).
The analysis included a sample of 527 hotels, responsible for offering a set of 81.6 thousand rooms.
