The weekend of the Proclamation of the Republic makes the carioca tourism sector optimistic. A survey by the Rio de Janeiro Hotels Association (ABIH-RJ) and HotéisRIO pointed out that the capital of Rio de Janeiro will reach 88% of room occupancy.
The president of the entities, Alfredo Lopes, says that the impact of the long holiday will not be restricted to the city of Rio, and other destinations in the state show good indicators.
“In some cities in the interior, the occupation is already reaching 90%. Very good movement for the season and the summer hasn’t arrived yet”, he pointed out.
In the countryside, according to ABIH-RJ, the average is 83.70%, but cities like Vassouras, Paraty and Miguel Pereira reached 92% occupancy. Despite the forecast for the holiday to be temperatures around 30°C in the capital, rain showers are expected for every day.
The movement extends to the airports, which will add more than 250 thousand passengers during the four days. At Tom Jobim International Airport (RIOGaleão), more than 84,000 people are expected on 490 flights. At Santos Dummont airport, the movement will be 50% higher than the same period last year, with more than 170 thousand passengers.
More than 216,000 travelers are expected to pass through the bus station in Rio de Janeiro, between arrivals and departures from November 11th to 16th. According to the spokeswoman for the terminal, Beatriz Lima, this number should represent an increase of 10% compared to the movement of the last Corpus Christi holiday.
