Hours of fear for Elton John. The 76-year-old singer spent the night in the orthopedic ward of the Princess Grace hospital in Monaco, where he was hospitalized after a accidental fall in his villa in Nicein the south of France, where he was spending his holidays.
The artist suffered some minor injuries, was treated and returned home. “Elton went to the local hospital like precautionary measure» the singer said in a statement. “After the tests, he was immediately discharged and is now in good health.”
Elton John spent the summer in France with husband David Furnish and their two sons Zachary and Elijah after completing his long world tour Farewell Yellow Brick Road in July.
He was last seen on his superyacht, enjoying a relaxing day with a group of friends in St Tropez on 22 August. At the beginning of the month he also has had dinner with Kevin Spacey in Niceafter the actor was acquitted of sexual assaults against four men (the singer was a witness in his defense).
While Elton John hasn’t ruled out releasing new albums in the future, he has decided to suspend tours to spend more time with her husband David and their children. He has not announced a definitive retirement from the stage, and will probably still do “a few shows” from time to time. But «touring is exhausting for me now“, has explained. “And it takes me away from my family and my children.”
Family seems to be what matters most to Elton, who has called his children “the biggest thing” in her life and that of her husband David. On her 75th birthday, he wrote a letter to her children, which was published in the magazine Time, in which he called them the “achievements” of which he was most proud. «Zachary and Elijah, you two are the greatest gifts I’ve ever been given», reads his letter. “You have filled my heart with love and my life with purpose and meaning in ways I never thought possible. I love you both so, so much… Whoever you become when you grow up, just be you, fully and completely you.”
