House of Representatives Passes Bill Banning Chinese Products Made With Forced Uyghur Labor

The United States House of Representatives has voted during the Asian session on Wednesday in favor of passing a bill that would ban goods produced by forced laborers from China’s Xinjiang region, as reported by Bloomberg.

The measure aims punish China for alleged oppression of Uyghur Muslims unless companies can prove that they have not done forced labor.

The bill now goes to the Senate for approval, where it already has bipartisan support.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement: “The Administration will work closely with Congress to implement this bill to ensuring global supply chains are free from forced labor, while simultaneously working on key internal and external supply chains, including semiconductors and clean energy. “
