House of the Dragon: here’s the first trailer for the Game of Thrones prequel

Judging from the first images and the care with which the first teaser was packaged, it is clear that HBO, with House of the Dragon, want to do things big. The expectations of fans of game of Thronesalready misplaced in the final that aired in 2019, cannot be betrayed again, and that is why all the resources available have been invested to create a series not only up to the original, but also capable to revive a franchise, that of Game of Thrones aindeed, which HBO cannot afford to give up. Especially after looking (in vain) in recent years for an equally strong series to focus on, like Westworld And Watchman.

Of House of the Dragonset two hundred years before the original series, we know very little except that it will tell about the fall of the Targaryen house as told by George RR Martin in the novel Fire and Blood. It is certain, however, that the ten episodes, shot in the United Kingdom, will mainly focus on Daenys, the daughter of Aenar who he will predict a cataclysm destined to destroy all the territories of Valyria to the Targaryens. When their tragic fate is fulfilled, the Targaryens will remain the only surviving dragonlords: from the stronghold of Dragonstone, Aenys I, the son of Aegon the Conqueror, born of incest, will fight to defend the legendary Iron Throne built by his father. Throne that will lead, however, many ruthless contenders to come forward, convinced that he is not the worthy heir to power. Soon, however, House Targaryen will find themselves fighting a bloody civil war which will go down in history as the Dance of Dragons, leading Daenerys’ ancestors to unknowingly trace their slow and inexorable decline.
