“House of the Dragon”: two new dragons were introduced in the 8th episode; see

The last episode of the second season of “The House of the Dragon” gave us a glimpse of characters who promise to be essential to the battle between the Targaryens in the next season, two new dragons : Sheepstealer (or Robbery of Sheep, in Portuguese) and Tessarion .

Although the existence of Sheepstealer was already revealed to us a few episodes ago — as was Rhaena Targaryen’s plan to try to assemble it — it was only in the eighth episode of the second season that we got to see it.

Tessarion’s appearance was very brief, we had a glimpse of the blue dragon flying along with his rider: Daeron Targaryen, the fourth son of Alicent Hightower with Viserys Targaryen, who grew up far from the court.

Learn more about the two new dragons from “House of the Dragon”:

Sheepstealer

In the sixth episode of the series, we discover with Rhaena Targaryen that a wild dragon has been bothering the residents of the Vale. Known for eating the local sheep, the dragon has been nicknamed Sheepstealer.

After running away in an attempt to find the wild dragon and try to create a connection with it, Rhaena finally finds the beast at the end of the eighth episode. We don’t know, however, if she was successful in her attempt — and we’ll only find out in the next season.

Rhaena and Sheepstealer’s involvement (successful or not) represents a departure from the series’ books written by George R.R. Martin.

In the book Blood and Fire, a girl of nobility named Nettles manages to gain Sheepstealer’s trust by bringing him meat to eat every day, and becomes a dragonrider. Although she may be a bastard or a descendant of the Targaryens, her origins are never confirmed.

Tessarion

The dragon Tessarion, also known as the Blue Queen because of the color of her scales, is ridden by Daeron Targaryen, with whom she has had a bond since birth.

Alicent Hightower’s son with Viserys Targaryen has yet to appear in the series, but he is expected to join the Green army in the battle for the Iron Throne.

During the Inside the Episode segment at the end of the eighth episode, the showrunner, executive producer and writer of the series, Ryan Condal, confirmed the appearance of Daeron and his dragon in the last scenes: “The fourth son of Alicent and his dragon, the Blue Queen, are flying to join this gigantic army formed by the Hightowers.”
