The monthly nominal per capita household income was BRL 1,625 in the country in 2022, according to calculations based on information from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Continuous PNAD), released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The information is disclosed by the IBGE as determined by Complementary Law 143/2013, which establishes the criteria for apportionment of the State and Federal District Participation Fund (FPE).
In the year 2022, the highest per capita household income was recorded in the Federal District, at R$2,913, while the lowest was in Maranhão, at R$814.
In São Paulo, nominal per capita income reached R$ 2,148. In Rio de Janeiro, the income was R$ 1,971, and in Minas Gerais, R$ 1,529.
Household income is obtained by adding the income from work and other sources received by each resident in the reference month of the survey, explained the IBGE.
Per capita household income is the division of household income (in nominal terms, that is, without discounting inflation) by the total number of residents.
