Housing starts drop more than expected while building permits jump 10% in January

The construction and housing data released Thursday showed different facets. The housing starts in January they registered a fall of 6% to 1.58 million (annual rate), a figure lower than the 1.65 million expected from the market consensus.

Regarding the building permits, these rose 10.4% to 1,881 million (annually), well above the 1,678 million expected by the average of analyst estimates.
