Any attack of USA to the Houthi her Yemen will not remain unansweredthe group's leader, Abdel Malek al-Houthi, said today in a televised speech.
He said any such response would be bigger than the recent one in which Houthi drones and missiles targeted a US ship in the Red Sea.
“Bell-bell” from the UN Security Council for the Red Sea – “Stop the Houthi attacks immediately”
To stop “immediately” the Houthi attacks against ships in Red Sea demanded yesterday, Wednesday (10/1) with his decision the United Nations Security Council. At the same time, he called on all member states to respect the arms embargo against the Yemeni rebels.
The text, which was drawn up by the US and Japan, was adopted with 11 votes in favor and 4 abstentions (Russia, China, Algeria, Mozambique).
It “condemns in the strongest possible terms” the “at least 24” attacks on merchant ships “since November 19”.
Claims the Houthi to “put an immediate end” to these attacks, “which impede international trade and undermine the rights and freedom of navigation” as well as “peace and security in the region”.
The text implicitly but clearly approves the action of the international coalition created by Washington for the protection of commercial ships in the maritime area of strategic importance. It also demands the Houthis release the Galaxy Leader, a car ferry operated by a Japanese company and linked to an Israeli businessman, which has a crew of 25. It has remained in the hands of Yemeni rebels since November 19.
The Security Council, as reported by the Athens News Agency citing AFP and Reuters insisting on respect for international law, “records” the right of member states to protect their ships from these attacks, the text notes.
