How can AI agents work and can help in your routine?

In recent years, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) It has become increasingly present in people’s routine. Now, a new segment of this type of technology has gained prominence: AI agents .

This type of tool is part of a concept called Ia AGRENTICA which refers to an artificial intelligence with agency characteristics. In other words, it is a technology capable of acting autonomously in decision making and tasks, based on established objectives and rules.

“Unlike the traditional AI, which analyzes data and responds to specific commands, AI Agentic agents work proactively, anticipating needs and adjusting their behavior dynamically,” explains Mozart Marin, data engineer, AI and software and teacher at IT Valley International School in Canada, to CNN .

In practice, AI agents can help improve everyday efficiency by automating tasks. According to Marin, some of the applications include:

  • Organization and productivity with the generation of summaries and organization of commitments;
  • Automated service to streamline customer support;
  • Process automation such as email classification and calendar integration;
  • Personalized Entertainment with recommendation of content based on consumer habits in streaming services.

What are the examples of AI agents?

An example of AI AGRENTICA are the robot such as Wealthfront, financial services company, which analyze the investor’s profile and automatically adjust the investment portfolio based on market changes, without the need for user intervention.

Another more recent example is the Browser Operator an AI agent launched by Opera earlier this month, capable of performing navigation tasks. Agês Artificial Intelligence Technology allows the automation of tasks without the need for manual commands.

The tool allows people to explain to the browser what they need to do in natural language, and themselves are in charge of performing tasks for them. It is possible, for example, to ask him to buy a “10 pairs of white nike socks, size 12”. The operator browser will then perform this task, which will save the time of the netizen.

“There are many new solutions based on browsers, including the way they interact as agents. Specifically, our approach will not depend on screenshots or video recordings of the navigation session to understand what is happening – and it is not a version of the browser running in the cloud with its user credentials,” explains Jan Standal, SVP of Opera, to CNN .

In addition, virtual assistants and chatbots, such as ChatgPT, Google Assistant, Siri and Alexa, are other examples of AI agents. Microsoft Copilot, integrated with Windows and Office, which helps in creating documents, emails and spreadsheets, is also another.

Google Duplex is an AI assistant who conducts natural conversations to perform “real world” tasks on the phone, such as ordering a delivery meal or making a reservation at a restaurant, for example. For this, technology uses natural language processing (PLN) to imitate human speech in telephone calls.

Going further, Tesla Autopilot is an autonomous car that has AI -based assisted steering system.

How can AI agents transform how do we interact with technology?

For Marin, AI agents are making technology more fluid, personalized and intuitive. “Interaction is no longer limited to menus and manual commands, because users can now use voice, text and gestures,” he says.

In the expert’s view, this can generate changes such as anticipation of needs, according to user behavioral standards, accessibility improvement (such as voice assistants and automated reading), integration between devices (smart houses, wearables and connected cars) and immersive experiments.

On the other hand, this requires greater care with privacy and security. “Many agents capture and process personal data, making it essential to adopt encryption and transparency policies,” says Marin. In addition, it is important that the algorithms are properly trained so as not to reproduce prejudice.

“The solution to these challenges lies in the ethical development of AI, with regulation, algorithms audit and greater transparency in data use,” he says.

In Brazil, the Federal Senate approved the regulation of IAS at the end of 2024, but went to approval in the House of Representatives. The text proposes to establish rules to protect the population against possible failures and guarantee rights to artists, who do not yet have legal support to the use of their works.

Brazil is among the countries that most use artificial intelligence
