The escalation of tension between China and the United States is another source of instability in international relations. A series of military exercises by both sides signal the rifts between the two countries, after the Chinese reaction to recent nods by US officials to Taiwan.
The consequences of a year of the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan and the need for global coordination to contain climate change are also topics that have the world on alert.
