There has been talk of a spin-off of How I Met Your Mother with a female counterpart and now, after a thousand vicissitudes, it seems that it will become reality. The credit goes to Hulu, which has, in fact, announced the creation of a first season consisting of 10 episodes from the title How I Met Your Father, with Hilary Duff in the role of Sophie, the protagonist. The format, compared to the mother series, does not change: the woman will tell her son, in an unspecified future, how she got to know her father.
The memory will go back al 2021, the starting year of the story that, according to the hope of Hulu, could continue for the seasons to come.
How I Met Your Father will see Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger return to work, who had already written a pilot of the spin-off in 2016 after CBS had canceled a first version written by the creators of How I Met Your Mother Craig Thomas, Carter Bays and Emily Spivey. At the time, however, the two writers were promoted as co-showrunners of This Is Us, which is why their idea was shelved. To try again with the spin-off was, a year later, Alison Bennett, but even here without success. Aptaker and Berger’s script, evidently, remained the best, since it is the one optioned by Hulu that immediately started the project.
