How is Silvio Berlusconi’s legacy really divided?

The question that immediately intrigued was theabsence of the name of the youngest son, Luigi, in the last part of Silvio Berlusconi’s will. «Dear Marina, Piersilvio, Barbara and Eleonora… from your inheritance of all my assets you should reserve these donations for Paolo Berlusconi 100 million, for Marta Fascina 100 million, for Marcello Dell’Utri 30 million for the good that I have loved him and for what they wanted from me. Thanks, much love to all of you. Your dad.” The fact that Luigi’s name is not indicated has been seen as an oversight, but also as a deliberate omission. The 34-year-old could be exempt from contributing to bequests for Paolo Berlusconi, Narta Fascina and Marcello Dell’Utri. These 230 million should come from the brothers’ inheritance shares.

What does inheritance include?

The most reliable estimates, according to the Corriere della Sera, speak of a total value of Silvio Berlusconi’s inheritance of 4 billion. 30% of the entire estate went equally to Marina and Pier Silvio and the remaining 70% was divided equally between their 5 children. On the one hand there are the shareholdings in Fininvest which see the majority in Marina and Pier Silvio, together with 53% with two equal shares thanks to the 20% of his assets that his father left directly to them, already an active part of the companies. The participation of the three younger brothers is 47%. The division in this way is due to the fact that Berlusconi had no wife at the time of his death.

And all the rest?

The report of the Fininvest division also applies to the rest of the assets, therefore 60 to Marina and Pier Silvio, who should have to give 138 of the 230 million between their uncle, Fascina and Dell’Utri, and 40 to Veronica Lario’s three children. The rest of the assets include houses, cars, boats, works of art, personal accounts and investments unrelated to Fininvest.

Of Villa Certosa, in Sardinia, there are valuations between 250 and 450 million euros. The possibility of selling the Arcore estate, the Cavaliere’s last domicile, that Villa San Martino where the ashes of Berlusconi, his parents and his sister are, has been denied. There are several real estate holdings, one of these has the properties of Milan 2, Dolcedrago manages the villas: of this approximately 30% each goes to Marina and Pier Silvio, 13.3% each to Barbara, Eleonora and Luigi. This for the costs, the use is of private management among the brothers.

There are housing which are not included in the holding company according to what is reported on Corriere della Sera. They were personal properties of Silvio Berlusconi: the historic residence in Milan-San Gimignano, the villa “Due Palme” in Lampedusa, Villa Campari on Lake Maggiore and two rooms in Trieste bequeathed by an artist from Trieste. Goods such as works of art will have to be inventoried. On the boats there would be a usage agreement between the brothers.

The acceptance

The will was opened and made public. Now the heirs owe it acceptup to that moment, the legacy is to be considered lying.
