A countdown of just twelve days “runs” from today for the new – second in a row – this year increase in the minimum wage.
As announced by the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the increase will be given on May 1, 2022, while the decision on its amount, based on the institutional framework, will be taken at the end of this month, ie immediately after Easter, the cabinet.
KEPE submitted the previous day to the Ministry of Labor its conclusion, which provides for its proposal. According to unconfirmed information Capital.gr the proposal that has fallen on the table is 4% to 6%.
It was preceded by the submission of the proposals of scientific bodies, together with the KEPE and the BoG, but also the proposals of the social partners (SEV, GSEVEE, GSEE, etc.).
As Capital.gr had revealed, the BoG proposes an increase from 2.7% to 3.4%. KEPE proposed “not too much” big increase, EIEAD increase 7%, IOBE “mild” increase, IN-SETE increase 5% -6%, INE-GSEE 13.5%, IME-GSEVEE “increase in levels of inflation ”, while INEMY-ESEE proposes a“ significant increase of the minimum wage ”with inflation as a“ key determinant ”.
For their part, the social partners propose, as revealed by Capital.gr the following: SEV proposes a “mild” increase of 4% this year in combination, but with a reduction of contributions, SETE proposes an increase of 3% -4% this year , while SVE recommends an increase of 3% -5% in 2023 and not this year.
As far as GSEE is concerned, it proposes an immediate increase of 13.4%. In his statement, the Minister of Labor, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis last week said that “a growth of over 7% has preceded and will take into account the competitiveness of the economy, the need to protect workers and we will go to a significant increase in the minimum wage “.
The statement has been interpreted by some of the stakeholders throughout the minimum wage re-consultation, who were contacted by the Capital.gr that it “shows” an increase of even 7% from May 1, 2022, although others insist that the basic scenario still provides for an increase of 6%, so that together with that of January 2022, it will reach 8%.
At the same time, it is reminded that from June 1, 2022, the contributions of the auxiliary insurance will be reduced by 0.5% (0.25 points for the insured and 0.25 points for the employers).
