How new mutations and circulation of the Covid-19 virus affect the fight against the disease

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the number of deaths from Covid-19 was almost triple the number officially recorded in the last two years. The entity warned of the need for health systems to be better prepared to face challenges such as the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite the scenario of falling numbers of deaths and new cases in Brazil and in much of the world, some regions have recorded localized outbreaks of the disease. China has even imposed restrictions and lockdowns in large cities, and the circulation of the virus around the world has allowed the emergence of mutations that are monitored by researchers.

In this episode of E Tem Mais, Carol Nogueira presents a balance of the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic. Epidemiologist Denise Garrett, from Instituto Sabin, and microbiologist Natalia Pasternak, from Instituto Questão de Ciência, participate in this episode to describe the points of attention for controlling the disease and the necessary measures to make it possible to live safely with the virus.
