How pornography compulsion harms physical and emotional health

Statistics show that boys’ first contact with pornography happens around 10 years of age. In this age group, most of them had no sexual education orientation. Pornography, then, ends up being a kind of school, which suggests to boys notions of machismo and stereotypes about what to expect and do or not in sex.

The consequence is that these boys end up becoming men who believe that it is possible to bring those practices of movies and videos to reality, and this dynamic results in men having difficulty creating connections and affectionate relationships with their partners or partners.

Another problem is that some of them also end up developing a pornography compulsion, with impacts on the physical and emotional health of themselves and the people with whom they interact.

In this episode of Entre Vozes, Luciana Barreto talks with Gregory Azevedo, who describes the impact of adult movies and videos on her relationships and how she managed to rethink the role of pornography in her life.

Also participating in the episode is Claudio Serva, founder of an initiative called Prazerele. According to him, the project has “a very well-defined mission”: to create spaces for conversation and reception for the deconstruction of sexism.
