How stun gun works

A neuromuscular incapacitation weapon (AINM) is a non-lethal device that acts on a person’s neuromuscular system, causing disorientation, muscle contractions and a fall.

AINMs are used by security forces to face conflict and crisis situations, especially in urban regions with large circulation of people. From temporary incapacitation and without causing serious physical damage, the mechanism allows immobilization without risk of fatalities during police interventions.

In 2023, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security certified electro-electronic neuromuscular incapacitation weapons based on a Technical Standard established by the National Program for Standardization and Certification of Public Security Products. The approved models were Taser 7 and Taser X2, from the Axon brand.
