“Premiere” on June 24 will make the subsidy program for the replacement of electrical appliances. The “lucky ones” will reach about 220,000 and their selection will be made -among other things- with income criteria. The percentage of the subsidy will also depend on the income, which can range from 30-50%.
Due to the fact that the devices that will be acquired will be less energy consuming, the household can save even 200 euros per year from the electricity bill.
The program will allow the replacement of refrigerator, air conditioner and freezer. The application will be made through a platform that will be activated on June 24 and will remain active for a maximum of 15 days.
Anyone can apply but the income will play a decisive role in both the final selection and the calculation of the grant. When submitting the application, only the VAT number, the AMKA and the electricity supply number of the property in which the device will be placed will be completed. The process will be completed in mid-July when the list of 220,000 beneficiaries will be compiled.
Through the platform, those interested will be notified that they are classified as “lucky” and will print a “coupon” which will be redeemed at the electrical trading companies. The only obligation that the consumer will have will be to deliver the device which will have to be proven to be in operation.
The resulting economic benefit is illustrated by the following example
An electrical company sells an energy class C refrigerator and a second energy class F. The former needs 225 kilowatt hours per year to operate and the second 395 kilowatt hours. Assuming that from July each kilowatt hour will cost about 0.25 euros (including VAT and so-called non-competitive charges) then the energy class C refrigerator will consume 56 euros per year and the class F refrigerator 99.99 euro.
So if three appliances are replaced, -especially if air conditioners are replaced, which are even more energy-intensive- the electricity bill can be “cut” even by 150-200 euros per year. This means that if the appliances that will be purchased to be replaced have a cost of 1500 euros – 500 euros for a refrigerator and another 1000 euros for two small air conditioners – then the amortization of the “investment” can be done in 7 years. And if you use the subsidy program that starts on June 24, then you can get your money back in less than 3 years as the subsidy rate can reach up to 50%.
