How to give insurance capacity to those who owe

of Dimitris Katsaganis

The new “capacity” of insurance capacity for self-employed persons with debts to the funds is in force, after the the day before yesterday, a relevant provision was adopted.

This “regime” has two aspects:

* The first aspect concerns all professionals, with or without debts.

For them, their insurance capacity – that is, access to public healthcare – was automatically extended until 31 May 2022.

It is pointed out that the extension of the insurance capacity is already valid until February 28, 2023 for those who had insurance capacity until February 28, 2022.

* The second aspect of the “status” of the insurance capacity concerns the debtors, who do not repay the lump sum or settle their insurance debts.

They can only pay the lump sum health contributions (in favor of EOPYY) for the year 2021 to have insurance capacity until February 28, 2023. This amount is calculated at 12 times the monthly insurance category for benefits in kind and in cash, which they had chosen for in the year 2021. In other words, they will have to pay the amount of 660 euros or 792 euros (depending on whether they have chosen the 1st category or 2nd-6th category of contributions for 2021).

This possibility is first given until May 28, 2022, so that those who meet this possibility provided by e-EFKA have insurance capacity for almost a year, ie until the end of February 2023.

However, officials of the funds report to Capital.gr that after May 31, 2022, debtors without regulated debts will be able to take advantage of this opportunity, ie they will be able to pay all the contributions of 2021 in June, July 2022 and thus have public medical care.

However, according to the same sources, this treatment will be valid again until February 28, 2023.

That is, for example, if a debtor out of regulation pays the health contributions of 2021 on June 30, 2022, he does not have insurance capacity until June 30, 2023. He will have insurance capacity until February 28, 2023. The relevant payment will be made exclusively within 2022 , ie until the end of December 2022 and not later.

E-EFKA has emphasized that this possibility is provided exceptionally and only once as from March 1, 2023 will apply the regime that has always been in force and which provides for the provision of insurance capacity to those who do not owe or to those who do not owe have regulated debts.

New online service “Checking the insurance capacity of Unemployed”

EFKA also launched yesterday the new electronic service “Checking the insurance capacity of Unemployed” where self-employed, self-employed and farmers who for any reason do not receive timely insurance capacity can submit a request and be reimbursed immediately if they meet the conditions .

The online service is available through the website of EFKA and the entry is made using TAXISNET codes and registration of AMKA.
