The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card, as tests have shown, consumes 450-500 watts, while only about 10% ahead of the regular RTX 3090. However, Nvidia’s new card could be quite power efficient.

How does it fit? As it turned out, if you limit the adapter to a power limit of 300 watts, it will still show very high performance.

As you can see, in the source test set, the 300-watt RTX 3090 Ti didn’t lose much. It’s still slightly ahead of the Radeon RX 6900 XT and just a little behind the RTX 3080 Ti. As a result, the card loses only about 11% of performance, while consuming much less energy.
In terms of actual power consumption, it was around 314W, which is roughly on par with the Radeon RX 6800 XT. And as a result, in terms of performance per watt, the new Nvidia flagship turns out to be the leader, and with an impressive lead over the competition!


Of course, it is unlikely that anyone will buy an RTX 3090 Ti, wanting to make an energy-efficient solution out of it. Moreover, other models participating in the test did not go through the procedure for reducing the power limit, so the question of the leader under equal conditions is open. But in general, this is still an interesting experiment, once again proving that to create their extreme models, manufacturers squeeze all the juice out of chips, getting a slight increase in performance with a huge increase in power consumption.
