Manta Network, a platform designed to create scalable decentralized applications (dApps), is preparing to reward the community with an airdrop of MANTA tokens.
The coin distribution, scheduled for January 18, will be a gesture of gratitude to early adopters of two Manta networks – the modular layer-2 blockchain Manta Pacific and the fastest layer-1 zero-knowledge proof blockchain on Polkadot Manta Atlantic.
What is Manta Network
Manta Network is a modular blockchain for zero-knowledge (ZK) applications. It includes two networks:
- Manta Pacific is a modular L2 ecosystem for EVM-native ZK applications and dApps that want to provide the lowest cost and best experience for users
- Manta Atlantic is the fastest L1 blockchain on Polkadot that provides programmable ZK privacy IDs and on-chain credentials via zkSBTs
Manta Network was created by a team of experienced programmers from prestigious institutions including Harvard and MIT. The project has received investments from many leading investment funds, including Binance Labs and Polychain Capital. The company has grown through participation in renowned accelerators including Alliance DAO and Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator.
Manta Pacific posted an astonishing 70x growth in the latest quarter total locked value. It is currently in fourth position on the list of the fastest growing L2 networks with a TVL of $858 million.
Functionality of the MANTA token
The total emission of Manta Network will be 1 billion MANTA. 12.1% of the supply will be used to fund two airdrops. The main goal of the token is to improve the user experience when interacting with zkApps applications in the Manta ecosystem.
Main characteristics of MANTA
- Total supply: 1,000,000,000 tokens
- Annual minting rate: 2%
- Governance: MANTA holders will be able to vote on governance decisions for Manta Pacific and Manta Atlantic
- Staking: MANTA staking contributes to the overall security of Manta Atlantic
- Paying Fees: Manta Atlantic uses MANTA to pay transaction fees
- Liquidity and collateral: token can be used in the Manta ecosystem as liquidity and collateral
72% of commissions are allocated to ecosystem projects, motivating developers to create new applications based on Manta. Another 18% goes to the treasury, designed to stimulate the development of the network, and the remaining 10% is distributed among the collators who create blocks.
In addition, the project will annually allocate 2% of the total supply to stakers to maintain the security of the network.
How to participate in the airdrop
The tokens allocated for airdrops are divided into several categories. Each of which represents different communities – Manta Pacific users, Manta Atlantic users and others. The snapshot dates and criteria for being included in the drop recipients are shown in the screenshot below.
To check whether you have been credited with tokens, you need to follow these steps:
- Go to https://airdrop.manta.network/ and connect your Manta Pacific wallet and/or Polkadot wallet to check if your address is eligible to receive rewards
- While you wait, you can explore the Great Treasure Hunt to receive Airdrop Bonus Rewards
- If you do not qualify for the airdrop, you can still receive MANTA tokens through other events such as New Paradigm campaign
You can claim to receive tokens within 6 months, starting from January 18, 2024 to June 18, 2024 at 11:59PM UTC.
