Sales of Huawei’s first car, the Aito M5 hybrid crossover, have recently started in China. There are no general sales statistics yet, but Huawei has already boasted of this fact: the company received 1,000 orders for the Aito M5 in a day. Not so much for a beginner. However, the company needs twice the volume of daily orders to meet its earlier goal of selling 300,000 vehicles by the end of 2022.

Recall that Aito M5 is the fruit of close cooperation between Huawei and Seres. This is the world’s first car with a Huawei Drive One hybrid propulsion system and a Huawei HarmonyOS Smart Cockpit powered by HarmonyOS. The basic version is rear-wheel drive, the middle and top versions are all-wheel drive. The power plant consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, one or two electric motors and a traction battery with a capacity of 40 kWh. The maximum power of the power plant is 496 hp, in this version, the crossover accelerates to 100 km / h in 4.4 s. On pure electricity, the car can travel up to 150 km, the consumption in hybrid mode is only 3.2 liters per 100 km. The maximum power reserve, measured by the WLTC method, reaches 1242 km.

Interestingly, just before announcing the order of 1000 cars per day, Huawei increased the cost of all-wheel drive versions of the Aito M5 – they went up by 1800 – 2250 dollars. And recently, the second Huawei car, the larger Aito M7, appeared on the Web. It is expected to go on sale before the end of the year.
