According to the source, Huawei smartphones, deprived of 5G support, may soon acquire it. And we are talking about new models, and those that have already been released. This will be achieved with the help of an additional accessory – a special cover.

Recall that the problem is that as a result of US sanctions, Huawei was actually cut off from the radio frequency filters that are necessary for the implementation of 5G in a smartphone. How exactly the case works, which “adds” 5G support to the Chinese company’s smartphones, is not reported, but in general, this is not difficult if the case connects directly to the phone via a USB-C port. True, difficulties of a different kind already arise here (for example, with charging if the model does not support wireless), but such a workaround is better than nothing.
Reportedly, the level of reception of a 5G signal with such a case will be lower than if the support was implemented at the hardware level, but, again, better than nothing. In addition, users themselves will be able to decide whether they need such an implementation of 5G communications or not.
It is not yet clear when such a “case-modem” will appear on sale and how much it will cost. Huawei’s upcoming releases are the nova 10 and Mate 50 series, and they’re rumored to not have built-in 5G support.
