As you know, Huawei is not only a manufacturer of mobile electronics, but also a leader in the field of ICT solutions. And it was this Chinese company that took part in the modernization of the network infrastructure of the Russian VTB Bank.
As follows from the official press release, Huawei helped VTB to modernize the network infrastructure at the bank’s headquarters and data centers or data centers. The update was necessary due to the growing requirements for volumes and delays in data transmission when performing specific tasks in the banking sector. As part of the modernization project, the contractor deployed a highly reliable fault-tolerant DWDM network with a bandwidth of 3.2 Tbps and a data transfer rate of 200 Gbps per channel with the possibility of further scalability. The implementation of the new infrastructure, reportedly took place as usual and did not require the suspension of business processes.
The designated project was implemented at a total of five sites. These are three own and one leased data center, as well as VTB’s head office in the Federation Tower in Moscow. The network equipment was supplied and adjusted by Huawei. We are talking about optical and electrical transmission equipment that combines high performance (from 100 to 400 Gbps), data transmission capacity (over 20 Tbps), advanced architecture and easy maintenance and repair. And with redundancy and built-in encryption, Huawei’s solution guarantees a high level of confidentiality of data, avoiding information leaks.
“For the banking sector, the deployment of a DWDM network is a relatively new experience, since earlier such technologies were used mainly by operator networks and large multinational corporations. When developing the project, we could focus on the serious technological base of Huawei and our joint positive experience of long-term cooperation. This project gave us the opportunity to assess the prospects of new DWDM technologies for building an ICT landscape and made it possible to lay the foundation for further development in this direction, ”said Vladimir Dergachev, Head of the Infrastructure Development Department of VTB Bank.
