Huawei is credited with the intention to produce electric vehicles under its own brand

The Chinese company Huawei Technologies plans to produce electric vehicles under its own brand and may release the first models this year. This was reported by Reuters, citing four sources who wished to remain anonymous. These plans are regarded as a possible change in the strategic direction of the world’s largest manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, which has suffered from US sanctions.

Two whistleblowers said Huawei is in talks with state-owned Changan Automobile and other automakers to use their car factories to build Huawei’s electric vehicles.

According to other reports, Huawei is also in talks with the state-backed BluePark New Energy Technology BAIC Group to manufacture its electric vehicles.
