Huawei plans to develop new smartphones, but other companies will sell them under their own brands

Last year, Huawei Technologies made a decision to sell the Honor division to keep it able to continue making modern smartphones. According to Bloomberg, citing its own sources, under the yoke of US sanctions, the company is thinking about developing smartphones for third-party manufacturers that will sell them under their own brands.

According to reports, Huawei Technologies plans to develop new models for other companies with access to those components that the Chinese giant cannot acquire due to sanctions. Potential partners are the Chinese companies PTAC and TD Tech. The former is already offering corporate customers smartphones under the Nova brand produced by Huawei on its website. In the future, the range of offers can be expanded at the expense of other models developed by a well-known partner.

TD Tech also recently released a 5G-capable copy of the Huawei Nova 8 Pro, which was quickly withdrawn from sales without explanation. In addition, it is reported that TD Tech has prepared another smartphone, which will be a copy of Huawei Mate 40 based on Kirin 9000E with 5G support.

Huawei has already begun to revise the design of key smartphone models, planning to move away from using its own HiSilicon processors in favor of Qualcomm and MediaTek solutions. US sanctions have caused Huawei’s revenue in the consumer device segment, which includes smartphones, to fall for four consecutive quarters. But the company’s management has spoken many times about its intention to keep the smartphone business even in the face of tough sanctions.
