Huawei expert Abhinava Purohita believes that the metaverses need technical advances in telecommunications to function effectively.
The Chinese telecommunications corporation Huawei has published a report in which it expressed doubts that existing communication standards are suitable for the metaverse. According to the company’s experts, 5G and 6G are much better suited for this task. This was stated by the chief specialist of Huawei in consulting in the field of business and strategy Abhinav Purohit (Abhinav Purohit).
“The Metaverse is primarily a collective virtual space that brings together people from different parts of the planet in one place, allowing everyone to get the same experience. It seamlessly blends virtual content with the physical world,” said Purohita.
Therefore, to implement something like this, you need high speed downloads, streaming, as well as proper hardware for the smooth operation of virtual worlds. This requires at least a few more technical advances: hybrid and local real-time remote rendering, video compression, and edge computing.
Changes in network optimization and communication standards will also be needed to reduce delays between devices and different mobile networks. The situation will be greatly improved by the widespread introduction of 5G, Purohita said, but ultimately innovation is needed in several areas at once.
Earlier, the administration of Zhejiang Province said that it wants to make the region one of the largest centers for the creation of metaverses in China – the authorities of the region will allocate $ 28.7 billion for this purpose.
