Huawei unveils MateBook 14s: 2.5K display, 90Hz and 11th Gen Intel processor

Huawei has announced a new laptop model – the MateBook 14s, which is built on an 11th generation Intel processor (Tiger Lake) with a TDP of up to 54 W. Another key feature of the novelty is support for a screen refresh rate of 90 Hz.

The laptop is made in an aluminum alloy case. Its weight is 1.43 kg, thickness – 16.7 mm. It has a fairly powerful cooling system consisting of two shark-finned fans and two heat pipes. The hinged air intake design provides 25% better hot air discharge compared to more traditional notebook designs.

Users can choose from an option with Intel Core i5-11300H and i7-11370H – processors with 4 cores, 8 threads and Intel Iris Xe graphics. Base configuration includes 8GB LPDDR4X RAM upgradeable to 16GB and 512GB NVMe storage expandable up to 1TB. The 14.2-inch touchscreen display with support for up to 10 simultaneous touches has a resolution of 2520 × 1680 pixels and an aspect ratio of 3: 2. The panel can operate at both 90 Hz and 60 Hz.

Of the connectivity interfaces, the Huawei MateBook 14s has two USB-C ports that support data transfer, charging, and DisplayPort. There’s also a USB-A 3.2 Gen1 port, full-size HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone / microphone combo jack. Responsible for wireless communication are Wi-Fi 6 with 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.1 with the ability to quickly pair headphones. The laptop runs Windows (can be upgraded to Windows 11) and supports Android apps (this feature is not mentioned in the English specifications, so it may be exclusive to China).

The keyboard has a scissor mechanism with 1.5mm key travel and three levels of backlighting. Users can unlock the computer by face or with a fingerprint (the scanner is built into the power button). This is the first laptop model from the company with proprietary technology Huawei Sound, which uses four built-in speakers to create surround sound. In addition, the device is equipped with four high-sensitivity microphones. The MateBook 14s is powered by a 60Whr battery and comes with a 90W USB-C charger (it can also be used to charge tablets and smartphones).

The Huawei MateBook 14s can already be pre-ordered in China for 7,000 yuan (about $ 1,100) for a model with a Core i5, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. The Core i7 version will cost 8,000 yuan (about $ 1,240). Color – green or space gray. In the UK, sales of the laptop will start on October 27, then the novelty will appear in Europe and Asia.
