Huge speed, plasma streams and plume. How Starship will go out of orbit – video

By the end of 2021, SpaceX hopes to send a sample SN20 of its Starship rocket spacecraft on its first orbital test flight from Texas to Hawaii around Earth. CGI designer Alexander Svanidze showed on YouTube how his entry into the atmosphere will look on his return.

The head of the company, Elon Musk, watched the video and noted that the video “pretty close” conveys how everything will actually happen.

He clarified that there will be no heat-shielding mosaic on the “back” side of the flaps, and part of such a tile towards the leeward side of the ship protects from the plasma flowing from these flaps.

“A bit of Hollywood, but this is graphics, can you afford it?” Svanidze wrote in response.

The final version of the reusable Starship spacecraft, together with the Super Heavy stage, will be about 120 m high, 9 m in diameter, with a launch weight of up to 5000 tons. They want to bring the payload up to 150 tons into low-earth orbit. Case material – alloy 304L stainless steel. It is designed for both close (from one point of the Earth to another) and long-distance flights into space, including the Moon and Mars. It is planned that the ship will be able to take on board up to 100 people.
