“I just passed Heathrow with my wife and children. We all have the same surname [Grant] in passports. The immigration agent pulled conversation with my children and then whispered to them, ‘Are these really your parents?’ Invasive, offensive and disturbing, ”wrote the actor on X, former Twitter.

Heathrow airport clarified the episode, saying that criticized agents are part of Border Force, a division of the UK interior ministry, and are not airport staff.

According to official guidelines available on the British government’s website, agents are allowed to ask questions when children travel accompanied by adults who may not look like their biological parents, especially when surnames differ. The government adds that the questions should be made “brief and carefully”, respecting both the child and the accompanying adult.
