The British man passed away today at the age of 86 director Hugh Hudson, who rose to fame with the Oscar-winning masterpiece “Roads of Fire» (Chariots of Fire).
Hudson breathed his last in a London hospital, where he was hospitalized due to a recent health issue, his family announced and relayed by the Athens News Agency.
Before moving into film, Hudson directed television commercials in the late 1960s. In the early 1970s, he directed a documentary about Argentinean Juan Manuel Fangio, a legendary Formula 1 racing driver.
The “Roads of Fire”, the story of the British runners who competed in the 1924 Olympics, swept the Oscars in 1981 – including the award for Best Film and the award for Best Music, written by Vangelis Papathanasiou.
