Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness break the silence on what it was like to adopt children

Having biological children is the greatest desire of some couples. However, not everyone fulfills this dream, either due to disagreements in their thinking, economic condition or health problems. The latter is precisely what happened to actors Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness.

Despite their medical diagnosis of infertility, the couple did not give up and adopted two young children, with whom they formed a beautiful family. But according to the couple, although the story seems to have had a happy ending, in reality everything was a process full of pain, ups and downs, tears and smiles that ended up changing everything.

Hugh Jackman fell in love with Deborra-Lee Furness while filming a show television. Despite their age difference, he managed to conquer the actress and they quickly took their relationship to the next level, that is, to the altar, vowing love until death do them part.

Later, they tried to have children, but they were unable to conceive biologically, so they opted for various treatments and therapies that in the end only ended up wearing them down physically and emotionally. It was then that they decided to add two adopted children, Oscar and Ava, to their life.

I don’t think of them as adoptees, they are our children. Deb and I believe in… I guess we can call it fate. We feel like these things happen because they are meant to be.

For Hugh, the adoption process helped him re-focus on himself, his partner, and the infinite love he has to give. For her part, Deborra affirms that this process changed her life completely, as she has had the opportunity to explore her motherhood and raise awareness about caring for other people.

We fully embrace ancestors and extended family; they are family to us. And it is there, even if it is generational. It may be subtle, but it is there.

– Deborra-Lee

Hugh and Deborra have done everything possible to provide well-being for their children, they stay away from the cameras, speak the truth to them and allow them to develop like any human being. This has helped Oscar and Ava be reciprocal in their love and respect, showing that the family is not the one with which a blood bond is shared, but the one with which the heart is intertwined.
