Humanitarian corridors are part of the equation for the repatriation of Brazilians in Gaza, say Itamaraty sources

The Brazilian government must insist during the High Level debate in the United Nations (UN) Security Council on the establishment of humanitarian corridors that guarantee the minimum necessary to supply the civilian population in the Gaza Strip. The information comes from Itamaraty sources.

For Brazilian representatives following the negotiations, humanitarian corridors are part of the “equation” that can help in the repatriation process of 26 Brazilian citizens waiting near the Rafah border.

Brazil must follow the position of the resolution text vetoed by the United States last week. In addition to the humanitarian corridors, the country condemns terrorist attacks, violence and hostility towards civilians and also calls for a ceasefire for the future construction of a peace process that recognizes the two States.

Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, who is in New York, started bilateral negotiations and is also having ongoing consultations on the United States text during the talks. Until the early afternoon of this Monday (23), Itamaraty considered it “too early” to make assessments.
