New satellite images recorded by a private US company show that Russia has continued to strengthen its military forces in Crimea and near the border with Ukraine in recent weeks, while pressures the United States for talks on security guarantees.
The Kremlin reiterated on Friday that it reserves the right to move its own forces on Russian soil as it sees fit and that Western countries are carrying out provocative military maneuvers near its borders.
The leaders of the United States, Europe and Ukraine have accused Russia of re-deploying troops near the Ukrainian border since October, following a brief rally in April when Maxar also posted pictures. US President Joe Biden and other leaders say Moscow appears to be considering an attack on Ukraine as early as next month. Moscow has repeatedly refused.

Images released late Thursday, according to Reuters, showed a base in Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014, filled with hundreds of armored vehicles and tanks on December 13. A Maxar satellite image of the same base in October showed that the base was half empty.
Other images of the company showed a concentration of troops at Russia ‘s Soloti station near the Ukrainian border, with photos taken in early December showing a greater concentration of military equipment than in September.
