Hurricane causes cancellation of flights from Brazil to Orlando

Due to the approach of Hurricane Ian in the United States and with the consequent closure of the Orlando airport, Brazilian airlines Latam, Azul and Gol had to cancel flights to Orlando, Florida.

According to a statement from Latam, the company’s flights scheduled for today (28) and tomorrow (29) were affected.

As a result, passengers who had purchased tickets for today’s flights LA8127 — from Orlando (MCO) to São Paulo (GRU); LA2474 – from Lima (LIM) to Orlando (MCO) and LA2473 – from Orlando (MCO) to Lima (LIM) can choose to change the date of the ticket without penalty and without fare difference.

This flexibility, informed the company, will extend to all passengers on flights between Orlando or Miami and Brazil that take place between the 27th and 29th of September.

Azul also published a statement on its website informing that, because of the hurricane, the Orlando airport will be closed between today and tomorrow.

On its website, the company asks customers “who have flights on these dates to update themselves through official channels and do not go to the airport on these dates”.

According to the company, it is possible to confirm the status of the flight through the app or on the My Reservations link on the website, using the reservation code.

It also informs that impacted customers will be re-accommodated on other company flights once Orlando airport operation resumes.

According to Azul, customers who have their flights canceled will be entitled to flexible rules and change the travel date, with the same origin and destination, without charging fees.

Gol reported that flights from Brasília to Orlando scheduled to take place between today and tomorrow were cancelled.

She informed that, to supply the cancellations, she created extra operations, which will take place on October 1st and 2nd.

“Customers with a flight scheduled for 09/28 were automatically transferred to 10/1; those of 09/29, allocated on 10/2. All passengers are being notified of the change by Gol”, he informed.

Also according to Gol, the extra flight on October 1st will leave Brasília at 12:30 pm, landing in Orlando at 7:10 pm.

The extra return flight, on the same day, departs Orlando at 8:30 pm, arriving in Brasília at 5:40 am the next day.

On October 2nd, the additional flight will depart at 12:30 pm from Brasília to Florida, landing at the same time, at 7:10 pm.

The additional return flight departs the same day at 8:30 pm from Orlando and lands in Brasilia at 5:40 am the following day.

Gol also requests that customers with flights to Orlando do not go to the airport on these days of impediment.

And passengers who decide to change their rescheduled flights for October 1st and 2nd can contact the company through its official channels, both for rescheduling and cancellation.

Gol also informed that flights between Brasília and Miami will not be affected in the coming days and will remain unchanged.
