According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, agents rescued a 91-year-old woman after floods hit the suburbs of Tampa, due to Hurricane Milton, which hit the state on Wednesday (9) night.
A video published on X this Friday (11) shows police officers in a boat heading towards a woman’s house in Lithia, near the Alafia River.
In the video, it is possible to see that the water at the entrance to the residence reaches the ankles of the rescuers, who carried the woman in their arms. Watch:
Hurricane Milton leaves deaths and destruction
Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, as a dangerous Category 3 storm, generating strong winds and rain, as well as flooding and tornadoes.
It weakened to Category 1 as it crossed the state and moved offshore, according to the US National Hurricane Center.
Still, the storm left a trail of destruction, roofing houses, knocking down trees, poles and a crane.
Sixteen people died after the hurricane hit, according to authorities.
Milton is the third hurricane to hit Florida this year, leaving more than 3 million people without power in the state. Wind gusts of 100 mph were recorded near Tampa.
Milton is also no longer a hurricane, according to an update from the National Hurricane Center on Thursday (10).
