HYPAAT: Credits of 223.3 million euros for the first installment of the Young Farmers program

The Ministry of Rural Development and Food announced the approval of credits totaling 223.3 million euros for the payment of the first installment to those participating in the Young Farmers program.

“The implementation of the program in record time, as well as the fact that it is the largest program that has been announced in the specific sector, show the will of the government to renew the potential of professionals in the primary sector. This is how we support the economy of our country, contribute to maintaining and increasing production as a necessary element to ensure food sufficiency and above all we give a development perspective to the primary sector” said the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Giorgos Georgantas. “The program serves the European standards of sustainable development and the government’s perception of transition from the model of agricultural exploitation to the model of agribusiness” he added.

The payment concerns those selected in eight of the thirteen Regions of the country, namely the Regions of Western Macedonia, Central Greece, Thessaly, Western Greece, Central Macedonia, Crete, Eastern Macedonia – Thrace and Epirus. Payments to the other Regions will follow based on the completion of the evaluation and the issuance of the results by their competent services.

The total budget of the Young Farmers program is 525 million euros, as additional resources have been made available compared to the 420 million euros of the original call in order to satisfy the great interest shown. The amount that will be paid in this phase by the Regions that show readiness to pay the first installment to the beneficiaries is 223,373,500 euros.
