Hyundai introduced Stargazer compact MPV: like Staria, only smaller and more affordable

Yesterday, July 15, the South Korean automotive giant Hyundai officially introduced the world to a new vehicle – the compact Stargazer model, teasers of which were announced some time ago by the manufacturer. And although the name of the novelty is quite sonorous (stargazer is translated from English as “stargazer”), the car itself turned out to be more than modest – in fact, the manufacturer himself said that this is a budget compact van with three rows of seats, which will be assembled and sold for poor regions of the world . For example, this model will go to an assembly shop in Indonesia, one of the potential markets for a family car.

It should be noted right away that although the car is associated with a minivan, in fact, Stargazer does not have much space inside. For example, with the backrests folded down, the trunk volume is only 585 liters, and if they are not folded, it is 200 liters. For a family vehicle, this is, to put it mildly, not enough. However, if you look at the list of characteristics of the base model, it becomes clear that the manufacturer really really wanted to save money. For example, in the basic configuration there are only two airbags, halogen headlights, an ABS system and a touch screen with a diagonal of only eight inches. In this case, the user does not receive any advanced technologies or security systems.

A more worthy set of options is available in the expensive Trend and Style trim levels – in this case, the user receives a stabilization system, modern LED optics, a rear-view camera and rear parking sensors, cruise control and a hill start assist system. And only in the Prime package, which is the most expensive in this case, the potential buyer receives the technology of monitoring blind spots, tracking markings and an automatic braking system. This means that in the basic configuration, the level of car safety is extremely low – only two pillows are responsible for the health of the driver and passengers and that’s it.

And, of course, the car received an extremely weak engine – only a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 115 horsepower at 114 Nm of torque. But there is a choice between a classic manual gearbox and a CVT (it costs more), but all-wheel drive will not be in any of the trim levels – only the front is available. The price of the novelty has not yet been named, but it will probably be a very affordable compact MPV.
