Hyundai Ioniq 5 “blew up” sales of Hyundai electrified cars

Hyundai reported a decline in global vehicle sales of more than 13% to 137,962 units in July, but the electrified segment continues to expand and hit a record high for the third straight month.

In July, the company sold a total of 11,742 electrified vehicles, up 39% from the same period last year. At the same time, they occupied 8.5% of all Hyundai deliveries. Since the beginning of the year, the company has sold more than 55,000 electric vehicles and hybrids, up 16% from the same period a year earlier. They accounted for 5.7% of the total volume of Hyundai vehicles during this period.

Sales of electrified vehicles since the beginning of the year:

  • Electric vehicles: 46,318 (up 9%)
  • Hybrids: 9,253 (up 73%)
  • Hydrogen vehicles: 5,721 (up 40%)
  • Total: 55,571 (up 16%)

The most popular new car of the manufacturer was the Hyundai Ioniq 5, sales of which exceeded 8,000 units. That’s more than two-thirds of the company’s total electric vehicle sales in July. Hyundai Kona Electric sales fell to 1,317 units from 6,500 vehicles a year earlier.
