Some time ago, employees of the South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor presented the body design of the new Ioniq 6 electric car, but then the manufacturer decided not to disclose the technical features of the vehicle. Fortunately, yesterday, July 14, the company still held a full presentation of the latest electric car, talking about all the features and capabilities of the new generation flagship. For example, as expected, the Ioniq 6 was built on the E-GMP proprietary modular platform, and in the basic version the car will receive a 53 kWh battery with an electric motor mounted on the rear axle (I wonder if a drift mod will be implemented).
In the top version, the car will receive a battery with a capacity of 77.4 kWh – in this case, the potential buyer, according to the manufacturer’s promises, will receive a range of 610 kilometers on a single charge. This is an impressive figure even by the standards of the modern market, plus it is 100 kilometers more than the range of the previous generation electric car. At the same time, the top-end equipment will be supplied with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and the total power of the electric motors will be 320 horsepower at 605 Nm of torque. Naturally, the performance is far from the best on the market, so the dynamics of the car turned out to be relatively weak.
The manufacturer said that the Ioniq 6 will be able to accelerate from zero to hundreds in 5.1 seconds – for an electric car, this is, to put it mildly, a modest figure. But the manufacturer has relied on charging power – a new vehicle with a 350 kW charger can charge a car from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. This is a really cool indicator, especially in terms of the development of the market for electric cars outside the city limits. And from this car you can power various electronics like laptops or even a computer – very convenient when traveling. And, of course, the company has made a considerable emphasis on various modern technologies.
For example, Ioniq 6 will get advanced adaptive cruise control, which boasts a smart speed control system. There is collision avoidance technology with emergency automatic braking, as well as a modern system for monitoring blind spots and high beam control. The company has not yet announced the cost of the new electric car, although sales of the flagship should be launched at the beginning of the third quarter of 2022.
