Hyundai, Toyota and Nissan car factories in St. Petersburg will resume production next week

According to a source, Hyundai, Toyota and Nissan automobile plants in St. Petersburg plan to resume production at the end of March. Kirill Soloveychik, chairman of the city committee for industrial policy, innovation and trade, announced this yesterday.

Hyundai, Toyota and Nissan car factories in St. Petersburg will resume production next week

According to the official, one of the car factories is already working, but which one is not specified. Most likely, we are talking about the Hyundai plant, since South Korea previously stated that state-level sanctions would not apply to cars and electronics. Therefore, the shutdown of the plant was mainly due to problems with logistics.

The Nissan plant was supposed to start working on April 4, but in view of Renault’s decision yesterday to suspend all operations in Russia, some changes are possible here. Both the Nissan plant and the Toyota plant are now experiencing serious problems with logistics due to sanctions, however, judging by the words of Kirill Soloveichik, these problems are being solved.
