The original voice actress for the character Summer from “Rick and Morty”, Spencer Grammer, enchanted the audience at Comic Con Experience (CCXP) 2023. She participated in a panel this Friday (01).
On the Thunder Stage, considered the main stage of the event, the “adult swim – Please Com to Brazil” panel took place. The channel is designed for animation made for adults, such as “Rick and Morty” and “Frango Robô”.
In the first panel this Friday (01), Spencer Grammer participated in the panel presented by Lucas Inutilismo. This is the voice actress’s first time in Brazil. “I loved Brazil and the kindness of Brazilians,” she said.
“It’s been a sensational trajectory in these ten years of ‘Rick and Morty’”, he continues. “It’s very important to know that it reaches people all over the world and it’s very exciting to be here sharing this with you. It’s an honor to be part of ‘Rick and Morty’.”
“Sometimes I look for news and texts about myself, about Summer’s character to find out what people like and what they look for to know how to improve”, he confided.
During the panel, there was also an exclusive first-hand screening of an excerpt from an unreleased episode of the animation.
Afterwards, Spencer went to the Omelette Stage, in the center of the event. “I’ve only been here two days and it’s been amazing,” she said. “I’m getting to meet these incredible fans and it’s a lot bigger than what we have in San Diego.”
“It’s really wonderful to play a character for so long because you get to grow with it,” he said, mentioning the ten years he has been voicing Summer. “And we also have a really big gap between seasons, but I’ve become very used to it and can pretend I’m 17 at certain points of the year.”
And how did it start? According to Spencer, she did a “great job” in an audition 12 years ago. “One of the lines I gave in the audition was used for the first episode of the series,” she said.
“I didn’t imagine it would be so popular all over the world”, he said, about “Rick and Morty”. According to her, one of the strongest points of the series is the relationship between the grandchildren and their grandfather Rick. “The dynamics of the relationships are also iconic: it’s a dysfunctional family and it’s easy for us to understand around the world, because it’s a universal truth.”
The most recent season of “Rick and Morty” is the 7th, which has been available on HBO Max since October 15th.
