English teacher Bianca Soares has been in the profession for over 29 years and, according to her, as a transsexual woman, “brings visibility to the cause” and promotes “reflection for students.”
The interview is part of Trans Visibility Month, which CNN Radio on CNN No Plural +, highlights throughout January.
According to Bianca, in her class, she tries to bring up cross-cutting themes, “with a conversation wheel.”
“I have a good relationship with my students, I always try to focus on their reflection on their participation in the moment of inclusion”, he explained.
Everything is guided, she guarantees, with a lot of respect and love: “I have to teach sincerely, the best thing that exists is respect and this is done harmoniously in the classroom.”
At the beginning of her career, the teacher says she went through situations of prejudice.
“I already had problems with the parents of students at the beginning and even students, but that diminished when I showed that I was there professionally.”
She believes that “there is still a situation of prejudice”, but that “nowadays it has been mitigated.”
Even so, Bianca argues that there is still a long way to go for the full inclusion of trans people in society.
