Vice President Hamilton Mourão told CNN which considers the former minister Milton Ribeiro an “excellent person” and claimed to believe that the truth about the evangelical pastor “will triumph”.
“I took notice now. Milton is an excellent person and I believe that the truth about him will prevail”, said the retired general.
The former minister was preventively arrested this Wednesday (22) in Santos. The warrant was issued as part of a Federal Police operation.
According to the Federal Police, the “Acesso Paid” operation aims to investigate the practice of influence peddling and corruption for the release of public resources from the National Fund for the Development of Education (FNDE), linked to the Ministry of Education.
Despite the Planalto Palace having decreed secrecy, the official agenda of President Jair Bolsonaro still records meetings with pastors Airton Moura and Gilmar Santos.
THE CNN identified the registration of the names of evangelical pastors on three occasions in the president’s official agenda: two in 2019 and one in 2020. The photographic record of one of the meetings still remains on the image platform of Palácio do Planalto.
The meetings were held on April 25 and October 18, 2019 and on October 14, 2020. All of them bear the name of Gilmar Santos. Evangelical pastor Airton Moura appears in only one.
