Frances Bean Cobain only daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love used social media to publish a long text in honor of your father , who died in 1994, when she was just one year old. This Friday (5), the Nirvana singer's death marks 30 years.
Now 31 years old, Frances Cobain is the result of Kurt's relationship with singer Courtney Love. On Instagram, the couple's heiress published a series of photos of her father, including the last ones taken with her .
In the caption, she shared a long account of how she deals with mourning her father and the fact that she never really got to know him.
“30 years ago my father’s life ended. The second and third photos capture the last time we were together while he was still alive. His mother, Wendy, would often press my hands to his face and say, with a calming sadness, 'you have his hands,'” Frances began.
“Over the past 30 years, my ideas about loss have been in a continual state of metamorphosis. The biggest lesson learned through grief for as long as I've been aware is that it serves a purpose. The duality of life and death, pain and joy, yin and yang, must exist side by side or none of it would have any meaning. It is the impermanent nature of human existence that casts us into the depths of our most authentic lives. It turns out that there is no greater motivation to lean towards loving consciousness than knowing that everything ends”, he reflected.
Frances then talks about the time she would like to have had with Kurt, but that she recognizes the lessons left by her father, even after his death.
“I wish I had met my father. I wish I knew the cadence of his voice, how he liked his coffee, or what it was like to be tucked into bed after a bedtime story. I always wondered if he had caught tadpoles with me during the sultry Washington summers or if he smelled like Camel Lights and strawberry nesquik (his favorites, I'm told).”
“But there is also profound wisdom in the accelerated path to understanding how precious life is. He taught me a lesson about death that can only happen through the LIVE experience of losing someone. It is the gift of knowing with certainty that when we love ourselves and those around us with compassion, with openness, with grace, our time here becomes more meaningful,” he added.
“Kurt wrote me a letter before I was born. The last line says: 'wherever you go or wherever I go, I will always be with you'. He fulfilled this promise because He is present in so many ways. Whether listening to a song or through the hands we share, in these moments I can spend a little time with my father”, concluded Frances.
