Ibama server is investigated for irregular transportation of animals

The Federal Police investigates the irregular transfer of wild cattle-cattle-species to Rio Grande do Sul. The change of place of animals would have been made by an IBAMA server, without permission of the agency and the State Secretariat of the Environment. The investigation is an offshoot of the celet operation.

The animals were at the jaguar institute in Goiás. Ibama stated that the parallers are in a Rio Grande do Sul zoo. The felines were part of a project for reintroduction in cerrado areas that was suspended.

The agency stated that it filed a Disciplinary Administrative Proceeding (PAD), under the responsibility of the Corregedoria, to investigate the facts reported by the Federal Police.

Operation Celeno was finalized in May and investigated the same Ibama server, suspected of the transfer of felines, by seizure of wild animals with the intention of profit at the Wild Animal Screening Centers (Cetas).

The indicted justified that the animals would be rehabilitated and returned to nature. However, the investigation showed that the animals arrested in Cetas would be used to form the squad of commercial breeders.

In the context of the operation, Ibama carried out the supervision of fauna breeders. In the places were caught several irregularities and mistreated animals. New inquiries were established based on the supervision of the agency.
