According to the CEO of Lancia, everyone wants to see a new generation of Lancia Delta and therefore the brand could not delete it from its plans. The legendary car will return in a new guise, but retain its roots and become a kind of manifesto of progress and technology. True, unlike its predecessor, which was driven by a traditional internal combustion engine, the new Lancia Delta model will have an electric motor under the hood. The car will see the light in five years, in 2026.
The head of the auto brand did not disclose any technical characteristics and other details about the new Lancia Delta. But there are rumors that the new Italian car will be based on the STLA Medium platform, developed by the parent company Stellantis. It involves the installation of an electric motor with a capacity of 125 to 180 kW (from 170 to 245 horses) and a battery with a capacity of 87 to 104 kW * h.
Recall that the Stellantis corporation was formed in early 2021 as a result of the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA. In addition to Lancia, the company includes 13 more car brands, including Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Dodge, Citroen, Jeep, Opel and Peugeout. As part of the new strategy, Lancia will work with Alfa Romeo and DS Automobiles and by 2026 will completely phase out combustion vehicles and focus on electric vehicles.
