‘I’d like to have my dad and my brother back’, says Prince Harry in an interview

Prince Harry continues to talk about the division in the British royal family.

He was interviewed by Anderson Cooper of CBS’s “60 Minutes” and the show was described as “Prince Harry’s first US television interview to discuss his memoir ‘Spare’ and recount his childhood, the loss of his mother and life as the Duke of Sussex, living in the UK and now the US.

In a clip from the show released on Monday, Cooper asked Prince Harry about the criticism leveled at him and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, over their decision to step back from their royal duties, but publicly exposed his complaints about what led to the change.

King Charles’ second son reiterated that he had tried to broach the matter privately.

“And every time I tried to do that privately, there were briefings and leaks and planting stories against me and my wife,” he said.

“You know, the family motto is ‘Never complain, never explain.’ It’s just a motto,” said Harry.

The couple recently made headlines for their Netflix documentary series “Harry & Meghan,” which debuted last month. In it, the couple shared stories of their courtship and their thoughts on how they were treated by the media and their respective families.

Prince Harry is also expected to go into more detail about his life inside and outside the royal family in an upcoming interview with British network ITV, in which he says: “I want a family, not an institution.”

In an excerpt from the interview, the Duke of Sussex says:

“They showed absolutely no willingness to reconcile,” he said, presumably referring to the royal family.

“I would like to have my father back. I would like my brother back,” he told journalist Tom Bradby in the clip of the interview, which will air on ITV1 on Sunday 8 January.

The “60 Minutes” interview with Prince Harry is also scheduled to air on Sunday on CBS.
