Analysts at IDC have prepared a report for the fourth quarter of 2021 relating to the market for hard copy devices, i.e. printers, MFPs and copiers. According to their calculations, approximately 22.3 million devices of these categories were sold during the quarter. This is 17.6% less than in the same period of 2020. In monetary terms, the market decreased by 12.3% to $9.7 billion. IDC specialists note that the supply continued to be adversely affected by restrictions in terms of production and logistics.

HP remains the market leader, but its position has weakened somewhat. Due to the reduction in supplies by 24.3%, the share of HP decreased from 41.2% to 37.9%. In second place is the Canon Group. An 18.5% decrease in shipments resulted in the Canon Group’s share falling from 20.5% to 20.3%. Third place goes to Epson. This company also reduced supplies, but only by 8.5%, so its share even increased – from 17.7% to 19.7%. Next comes Brother, whose share decreased from 8.3% to 8.1%, and Pantum closes the top five, whose share increased from 0.9% to 2.0% over the year.
