The International Energy Agency (IEA) affirms the commitment to “accelerate transitions to clean energy”, as a “lasting solution to avoid energy price jumps like the recent ones”.
The statement is in a statement from the entity published this Thursday (24) after the group’s ministerial meeting, with the text also calling for “competitive and transparent energy markets, in order to minimize the negative impact of price volatility on citizens”.
The IEA defends the role of the clean energy transition and transformation in the energy sector as an important driver for economic growth, job creation and cheaper access to energy.
In addition, it calls for “practical and concrete steps” for this transition, noting that this process takes place amid the work of countries to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, under the Paris Agreement.
The entity also celebrates the entry of Lithuania as its 31st member and also the continued interest of Chile, Colombia and Israel to join the entity.
